When you’re given three choices for dessert:
A dish of ice cream topped with espresso
Chocolate mousse with whipped cream and crushed Oreos
Or blueberry cobbler a la mode
Choose the cobbler
Because
How often do you really get to eat cobbler?
Sometimes lunch is just kind of there. It serves a purpose, sure. But when you’re asked about it later that day you may have trouble remembering. I’m not a big fan of lunch anyway. I prefer breakfast. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. It’s also the simplest. Most days it’s black coffee with toast or cereal. Hot or cold. I started buying quinoa bread at Trader Joe’s. It toasts real nice. I spread a little organic peanut butter and blackberry preserves (or Lingonberry) or today I had raspberry/blueberry jam. I’ll have eggs usually once a week. On special occasions I’ll have pancakes, waffles, or French toast. Always coffee though.
Eating Brooklyn is a site dedicated to posting reviews and uncoming food & drink related events in Brooklyn, NYC. The site was started by Mark Levine who also writes www.eastofnyc.com, www.eatinglongisland.com, and www.eatingsouthflorida.com. I had written a few Brooklyn related pieces for East of NYC, and when Mark created Eating Brooklyn he brought me on as editor-in-chief. Everything on Eating Brooklyn to date.
Debonair magazine was started by Eddie Hertzman a few years back. The magazine has gone through some recent changes along with the rest of the magazine industry. The new incarnation is a totally revamped site. Eddie noticed my work on Eating Brooklyn, and has brought me on as a food and drink writer. So far, two of my pieces have been published.
The first is called Mad Cocktails. I took the AMC show Mad Men’s six main characters, gave a brief description of each, and what they like to drink, then gave the recipe for that drink as written on the AMC website. It’s gotten a lot of hits.
The second is an interview with Chef Mark Simmons, a former Top Chef contestant, and current co-chef at Get Fresh Table & Market in Park Slope, Brooklyn. This was my first ever interview, and I thought it went pretty well.
That’s all I got so far, folks. Hopefully there will be much more to come. Wish me luck!
